Care Guide

Fur

Store on a broad wooden hanger in a breathable cotton bag, never plastic. Keep away from heat and direct light. Send to cold storage each summer. If caught in rain, shake out and hang to dry away from any heat source. Never brush; a gentle shake is enough.

Suede & leather

Brush suede with a soft suede brush after wear and protect once a season. Condition smooth leather twice a year with a neutral cream. Let wet leather dry slowly with cedar shoe trees or crumpled paper inside.

Boots

Use cedar boot trees. Resole with a proper bootmaker — never a glue-on. Exotic skins want a reptile-specific conditioner, sparingly, and no oils. Rotate pairs; a day's rest between wears adds years.

Turquoise & silver

Turquoise is porous: no perfume, lotion or water. Put jewelry on last. Wipe silver with a soft cloth; avoid dips and polishes on old pieces, which strip the patina collectors value. Store pieces separately in cloth.

Silk

Dry clean only, and only when necessary. Store flat or loosely rolled, never folded on the same lines. Keep out of sunlight.

Denim

Wash rarely, cold, inside out, and hang to dry. Vintage denim should never see a dryer. Spot clean when you can.
