A note from the founder
My grandmother had one good coat. Mink, bought in 1964, worn every winter of her life and then every winter of my mother's. When it came to me it still smelled faintly of her perfume and the cedar closet in Spokane. It is the most valuable thing I own, and it has nothing to do with what it would sell for.
Worn Out West began with that coat, and with a question: why does almost nothing made today feel like it will last long enough to mean something? So we went looking for the pieces that had already proven they could. Estate sales across Texas, Montana and New Mexico. Trading posts outside London. Paris flea markets, Amsterdam apartments, and the back rooms of small-town bootmakers in Mexico who still remembered the woman who ordered the pair.
Every piece we sell is chosen in hand, by us. We look for character first, then quality, then the harder thing: timelessness. If we can imagine it looking wrong in ten years, we leave it. If we can imagine a daughter fighting her sister for it, we bring it home.
We sell each piece once. There are no restocks, no sizes to run, no next season. When it goes, it goes to the person who was meant to have it, and we move on to finding the next one. Good vintage comes with a story, and a story leaves its marks, so very few of our pieces are in flawless condition. We do not think of them as any less for it. We simply tell you exactly what we found, every scuff and softened edge, photographed and noted, so you know precisely what to expect before it arrives.

Philosophy
Fewer things, better things, kept longer.
A wardrobe built this way is smaller and quieter than most. It also costs less over a lifetime, wears better every year, and asks nothing new of the world. That is what luxury has always meant, before it meant logos.
Passing it down
Investment pieces, in the truest sense.
Old turquoise appreciates. Good boots resole. A Chanel flap from 1994 is worth more today than it was new. But the real return is the day you hand it over, and it starts its third life.
